Former Belgian national team captain Eden Hazard will once again take the field for Chelsea. The London club, which is Qarabag's opponent in the Champions League, is preparing for a charity match with the participation of its former star.
Idman.biz reports that according to The Mirror, the 34-year-old former midfielder will appear in the charity match between "Chelsea Legends" and "Liverpool Legends" at Stamford Bridge today, despite ending his football career in October 2023.
In addition to Hazard, his former teammates - John Terry, Petr Čech, Diego Costa, Ramires and John Obi Mikel will also participate in the game.
All proceeds from the match will be directed to the charity funds of the Chelsea club and players.
E. Hazard left Chelsea in the summer of 2019. In that season, he scored a double in the 4:1 victory against Arsenal in the Europa League final and won the title for his team. It should be noted that the final match was held at the Baku Olympic Stadium.
Later, although the Belgian footballer was transferred to Real Madrid for 100 million pounds, he could not perform successfully in Spain. Due to constant injuries and loss of form, Hazard played in only 76 matches for Real and scored seven goals.
During his seven years at Chelsea, Hazard scored 110 goals and provided 92 assists in 352 games. He is considered one of the most successful and beloved players in the club's history.
It should be noted that Eden Hazard also played against the Azerbaijan national team as part of the Belgian national team. These matches took place within the framework of the Euro 2012 qualifying round. In the match held in Brussels on March 29, 2011, our national team lost 1:4, and the return match played in Baku on September 2 ended in a 1:1 draw.
Although Hazard did not distinguish himself in those games, a penalty was awarded in the match in Baku due to a foul against him, and Timmy Simons accurately executed that kick. Rauf Aliyev scored the only goal for the Azerbaijan national team.
