"Difai"'s head coach Araz Bagirov announced the team's first goal in the First League

The main goal of "Difai", representing Azerbaijan in the First League, in the 2025/2026 season will be to be in the top 5.

The newly appointed head coach of the team, Araz Bagirov, told "Report" about this.

The 43-year-old specialist said that they will prefer relatively young football players due to the club's low financial situation:

"We are building the team almost from scratch. Our goal is to be in the top 5 in the championship by January. Our financial situation is not so high that we can transfer any player we want, like "Shafa". Nevertheless, we will try to get into the top five by January by conducting a good selection and collecting young and dynamic football players. This is my specific goal as a coach. Then we will determine the direction. If the difference in points with the teams in the first places is small, we can play for the championship, at least for the top 3".

The head coach spoke about the changes to be made in the coaching staff:

"There will be both local and foreign football players in the team. We are waiting for AFFA's decision on the legionnaire limit. Because the decision may affect the number of players. In any case, we will attract foreign football players. Because legionnaires played in the team even before I came. The main goal is to attract football players born in 2002 and above. Our finances do not allow us to invite more experienced football players. The maximum age will be 23".

It should be noted that "Difai" finished the 2024/2025 season of the Azerbaijan First League in 9th place among 10 teams with 26 points. The club signed a 3-year contract with Araz Bagirov yesterday.
