İdman.Biz reports that the Italian national team failed to qualify for the World Cup for the third time in a row, losing to Bosnia and Herzegovina in a penalty shootout in the play-off final of the 2026 World Cup qualifying stage (1:1, penalties – 1:4).
"Italy has become the laughingstock of world football. It is difficult to forgive missing three World Cups in a row. How can a whole generation miss tournaments in such an influential country? Four-time world champions have not been successful for twenty years.
We once had world-class players, but today their average level is quite low," Del Piero said.
