Davide Ancelotti's tenure as head coach of the Brazilian Serie A club Botafogo has come to an end. After 5 months of activity, the club's management decided to end cooperation with the Italian specialist.
Idman.Biz, citing ESPN, reports that Botafogo's move is due to unfulfilled expectations during the season.
The team stopped fighting in the early stages of the Copa Libertadores tournament and remained out of the title race in the national championship. The management did not consider the current results satisfactory and made a coaching change.
Davide Ancelotti was appointed as the head coach of Botafogo in July, and this was his first independent head coach experience in his career. Prior to that, he worked in the coaching staff of his father, the famous specialist Carlo Ancelotti, at Real Madrid (Spanish La Liga), Bayern (German Bundesliga), Napoli (Italian Serie A) and Everton (English Premier League).
It should be noted that the Botafogo management plans to announce its decision regarding the new head coach in the coming days.
