"We are not at all satisfied with 6 points, because we could have won in the last two games".
This was stated by "Shamakhi"'s Brazilian defender David Santos in an interview with futbolinfo.az.
We present the interview:
– In the 6th round of the Misli Premier League, you drew (1:1) with "Araz-Nakhchivan". Considering that "Shamakhi" showed a clear advantage over its opponent in the first half and took the lead in the score, did the final result satisfy you?
– We started the game very well and had 3-4 real scoring chances. Therefore, we were not at all satisfied with the final result. In this regard, we must work on ourselves and turn the opportunities that will come our way in the next matches into goals.
– After approximately the 60th-65th minute, the tempo dropped in "Shamakhi", and some players felt tired. What was the reason for this?
– I think we gave hope to the opponent because we could not finish the game in the first half. Since the result did not satisfy the opponent, it was natural for them to control the ball more at the end of the match. Not having the ball at those moments tired us more than we expected.
– "Shamakhi" has collected 6 points in 6 games. Are you satisfied with this performance, or do you think you could have collected more points?
– We are not at all satisfied with 6 points, because we could have won in the last two games. We lost the victory against "Zira" due to small details. The match against "Araz-Nakhchivan" was also a game where we could have won 3 points, but again we could not maintain our advantage until the end.
– In the next round, you will be a guest of "Gabala". Will it be possible to return from the trip with 3 points?
– We will go to Gabala to win. The opponent is a quality team. Taking this into account, we know that the game will be very difficult. But our goal does not change: we want to return from the trip with 3 points.
– Have you fully adapted to the playing style of head coach Aykhan Abbasov and the Azerbaijan Premier League?
– Yes, I and other new transfers have adapted well to Azerbaijani football and the playing style of our head coach. We are developing more and more as the rounds go by. We must improve some of the details that Aykhan Abbasov demands from us and make more correct decisions on the field. In this case, I believe that we will always be closer to victory.
– What is the maximum position that "Shamakhi"'s strength will be enough to finish the current season?
– As I said, we are developing rapidly. I believe that we will take a good position at the end of the season. But we have to work hard for this.
