The Danish press has reacted sharply to the appointment of Dutch-Turkish referee Serdar Gözübüyük to the "Qarabag" - "Copenhagen" match, which will be held in Baku at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium in the second round of the Champions League group stage.
According to Idman.biz, citing foreign media, the referee, who was at the center of the scandal last weekend, will manage this game.
Journalists, recalling the "Heracles" - "Sparta" game, stated that the referee did not show the defender a second yellow card for a harsh foul and canceled the penalty decision for the guests after VAR intervention.
"Sparta" head coach Mauris Steijn called these decisions ridiculous, and Dutch experts confirmed that a second warning should have been given. Against this background, the Danes are dissatisfied with Gözübüyük's appointment to Baku.
It should be noted that in Baku, Serdar Gözübüyük will be assisted on the sidelines by Erwin Zeinstra and Patrick Inia. The fourth referee will be Jannick van der Laan, and Rob Dieperink will be in VAR.
The "Qarabag" - "Copenhagen" game will start on October 1 at 20:45.
