An Organizing Committee has been established in connection with holding the 2027 World Championship among men's football players under 20 in Azerbaijan.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to AZERTAC that the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed an Order in this regard.
According to the Order, Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov has been appointed Chairman of the Organizing Committee.
The Organizing Committee will also include the Minister of Youth and Sports, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, Deputy Minister of Finance, Deputy Minister of Culture, Deputy Minister of Economy, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Deputy Minister of Science and Education, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Deputy Minister of Health.
In addition, the Organizing Committee will include the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankendi, Agdara and Khojali regions, the Head of the Baku City Executive Authority, the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, the Chairman of the Food Safety Agency, the Chairman of the State Agency for Citizen Services and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee, the Deputy Head of the State Security Service, the Deputy Head of the State Migration Service, the Deputy Head of the State Border Service, the Chairman of the Board of the State Road Transport Agency, the President of "Azerbaijan Airlines" Closed Joint-Stock Company, the Chairman of "Azerishig" Open Joint-Stock Company, the President of "AzerEnerji" Open Joint-Stock Company, the Executive Director of the Medical Territorial Management Unit, the Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee, the President of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), the Head of the Ganja City Executive Authority, the Head of the Gabala Region Executive Authority, and the Head of the Sumgayit City Executive Authority.
The AFFA has been entrusted with coordinating work with the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) regarding the World Championship.
The Organizing Committee has been instructed to resolve the necessary issues related to holding the World Cup in Azerbaijan in 2027, and the Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to resolve the issues arising from this Order.
It should be noted that at the meeting of the FIFA Council on October 2, 2025, a decision was made to hold the World Championship among men's football players under 20 (FIFA U-20 World Cup) in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in 2027.
Azerbaijan's hosting of such a prestigious sports event will further strengthen its growing reputation as a sports country and will positively affect the high-level organization of such important projects in our republic in the future.
