A year has passed since the crash of the Embraer 190 aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines, which was operating the Baku-Grozny flight. There were 67 people on board the plane - 62 passengers and five crew members. As a result of the plane crash, 38 people died and 29 more were injured.
Among the victims of this tragedy was 13-year-old Mahammadali Yeganov. The teenager was going to his mother in Grozny to celebrate the New Year.
Mahammadali was in the eighth grade and played for the Baku "Genclik" football club.
The team's head coach Vasif Rzayev told İdman.Biz in a statement that the boy started training under his leadership in 2023.
"He was a very kind and cheerful child - he always smiled, joked, and communicated easily with everyone. He had many friends, the team loved him very much," Rzayev recalls.
According to the coach, Mahammadali Yeganov studied well and took his lessons responsibly:
"He was able to combine education and sports. He often rushed to extra lessons with tutors after training. Despite the difficult schedule, Mahammadali was in excellent physical shape and developed noticeably as a football player in a short time, he participated in our games."
Vasif Rzayev noted that despite the fact that a year has passed since the tragedy, the pain of loss has not subsided:
"We miss him very much and remember him often. He is still missing by our side. The only thing left for us is to watch his videos."
