The International Football Association Board may make changes to the operation of the VAR system, as well as the execution of penalties during games.
Lent.az reports that expanding the powers of the VAR system is being considered so that the system can review the correctness of corner kicks and second yellow cards.
It is also proposed to introduce a rule prohibiting the team taking the 11-meter penalty kick from following up after the goalkeeper makes a save.
If the changes are adopted, they will take effect on June 1, 2026. The first tournament where the new rules will be implemented will be the World Cup to be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
