The draw for the UEFA Champions League main stage took place yesterday.
Idman.biz reports that the competition will start on September 16.
"Bodø/Glimt" (Norway), "Kayrat" (Kazakhstan), "Pafos" (Cyprus), and "Union Saint-Gilloise" (Belgium) will be making their debut in the league/group stage of the Champions League.
"Kayrat", based in Almaty, is the easternmost team to ever qualify for the main stage of the tournament.
In addition, "Bodø/Glimt", representing the city of Bodø near the Arctic Circle, will be the northernmost European club in the Champions League.
This also means that it is the first time since the 2007/08 season that a Norwegian club has participated in the main stage of the tournament. It is also the first time since the 2005/06 season that no Ukrainian clubs have qualified for the league/group stage.
It should be noted that "Qarabag" will face "Chelsea" (h), "Liverpool" (a), "Eintracht" (h), "Benfica" (a), "Ajax" (h), "Napoli" (a), "Copenhagen" (h), and "Athletic Bilbao" (a) in the Champions League.
