"Qarabagh" lost to "Ferencvaros" (Hungary) in the return match of the UEFA Champions League play-off round due to individual and positional errors.
Former Azerbaijani national team midfielder Ceyhun Sultanov made a statement about this to "Report".
The 46-year-old veteran footballer shared his thoughts on the reason for the "stallions" defeat to the Hungarian representative:
"Qarabagh" tried to be a little more careful in the second match, unlike the first game. I think the team relaxed after scoring a goal. In my opinion, they lost due to individual and positional errors."
The former member of the national team stated that the field of the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium was not suitable for "Qarabagh"'s style of play:
"The level of the field was not suitable for the game displayed by "Qarabagh". The team's style of play is such that the field must be in ideal condition. But unfortunately, the field at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium was not at the desired level."
C.Sultanov said that the Hungarian champion is a good team:
"We are happy that "Qarabagh" qualified for the main stage. But I don't think "Ferencvaros" is a bad team. The result of the first game did not mean passing the stage. I said that the second match would be difficult. Thank God, "Qarabagh" was able to score goals. If they could not take advantage of the goal situations, we would not be the side that passed the stage. In any case, there is always faith in "Qarabagh". The team has a style of play and they deserved to pass the stage. I wish them success, I believe that they will represent Azerbaijan properly this year as well."
It should be noted that "Qarabagh" defeated "Ferencvaros" in the play-off of the UEFA Champions League with the result of two matches (3:1, 2:3) and qualified for the main stage.
