Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal shared his thoughts on the change of head coach at the Madrid club.
Idman.biz reports that the defender noted that Carlo Ancelotti gave the players more freedom, while Xabi Alonso focuses on discipline.
"Ancelotti was a legend of Real Madrid and he will always remain in the history of the club, but we needed a change. Sometimes a change of coach helps to shake up the team and restore enthusiasm. With Carletto we had more freedom, but Xabi is stricter and more demanding. Everyone has their own philosophy," Carvajal said in an interview with COPE.
The Spanish defender emphasized that Alonso is trying to change the players' thinking and bring new ideas. At the same time, he noted that different generations of coaches look at football differently and this is a natural process.
Alonso's start at Real Madrid has been successful: after three consecutive victories in La Liga, the Madrid team went into the international break as the leader of the championship. They are looking forward to matches against Real Sociedad and Marseille in the Champions League.
