Dries Mertens played his last match for "Galatasaray" yesterday. According to Sport24.az, the Belgian, who took the field in the 38th round of the Turkish Super League against "Istanbul Başakşehir" (2:0), accurately converted a penalty in the 17th minute.
The 38-year-old striker was substituted in the 79th minute and left the field to sustained applause from the fans.
The former "Napoli" forward has played for "Galatasaray" since 2022, making 136 appearances, scoring 25 goals and providing 44 assists. Mertens has been a Turkish champion three times.
It should be noted that goalkeeper Fernando Muslera also played his farewell match with "Galatasaray" on Friday and was substituted in the 88th minute. The 38-year-old Uruguayan wore the Turkish club's jersey for 14 years.
