The head coach of Ecuadorian "Barcelona" has been penalized for hidden advertising.
Idman.biz reports that CONMEBOL fined Segundo Castillo 50,000 US dollars.
The reason for this was his overly bright and eye-catching clothing during the Libertadores Cup matches.
It is reported that Castillo engaged in hidden advertising by attracting attention with his extravagant outfits.
CONMEBOL determined that in the match between "River" and "Barcelona," Castillo's jacket had a circular badge on the collar, and this badge belonged to the advertising campaign of Ecuador's national lottery company.
Thus, the organizers of the Libertadores Cup assessed this situation as "ambush-marketing" (hidden marketing), which is an attempt to associate oneself with the event without being an official sponsor of the tournament and is prohibited by the rules of the tournament.
The fine imposed on Castillo will be deducted from the club's income from television broadcasting rights.
