"We play compactly as a team. We don't have that many individual players".
This was stated by "Imishli" footballer Azer Salahli in an interview with sport24.az.
We present the interview.
- You drew with Zira away in the 16th round of the Misli Premier League. What can you say about the game?
- First of all, we knew that the match would be difficult. Because the opponent is one of the teams that is a candidate for the "top 3" this season. They play very good football. The match was difficult for us. We had to play from the second number. We wanted to take advantage of our chances in counterattacks. It ended in a draw, I think this is not a bad result against this opponent. First, we will rest well, then we will prepare for the second half of the season.
- The teams' duel in the first round also ended in a draw. Why do you think the opponent cannot beat you?
- We play compactly as a team. We don't have that many individual players. Our advantage is that we are together collectively. I think that's one of the biggest reasons.
- How do you assess the first half of the season, did you finish 2025 where you wanted and wished?
- We also had a technical defeat. We won that match. Nevertheless, I must emphasize the matches we played well and the penalties we missed. We could have scored more points than now. This is not a bad result for the first season. We have to look ahead.
- Although the legionnaire limit has been abolished in the Misli Premier League, you are constantly appearing in the team. How do you think the abolition of the limit has affected Azerbaijani football players?
- Of course. It definitely has a bad effect. Because many local players cannot get a chance to play in their team. If I'm playing, it doesn't mean I agree with it. No. I definitely do not agree with this. I would like our local players to have a chance.
- You have also worn the uniform of the Azerbaijani national team before. You have also been performing stably since the beginning of the season. How do you see the possibility of receiving an invitation in the next training camp?
- I was expecting an invitation in the last training camp as well. I wasn't called. But I'm working. One of my goals is to return to the national team. I am doing my best for this.
- There are clubs interested in you in the Misli Premier League. Is there a possibility of changing the team?
- I currently have a contract with "Imishli". I don't think we are giving a bad impression either. Now my whole focus is on achieving success with this team.
