Interview of Azer Bagirov to AZERTAC, who left the post of head coach of "Kapaz" yesterday.
– You parted ways with "Kapaz". How did this process happen?
– Frankly, I promised not to talk about it. But this is a personal matter. It was already clear two days before the game with "Turan Tovuz" that we would part ways. Some of the conditions I put forward at the meeting with the club management were not received warmly. I also said that if it continues like this, it would be better to part ways.
– You mentioned the conditions. On what issues could you not find common ground with the club management?
– As a coach, I also had desires. I can only say that my conditions were not accepted. I also mentioned at yesterday's press conference that there are some issues that should remain between the club and us.
– What were you able to change in the team during your time at "Kapaz"?
– Everyone knows very well that it seemed very difficult for "Kapaz" to stay in the Premier League. The club management almost had no hope. Maybe one in a thousand people believed in a miracle. Most fans and football experts thought that "Kapaz" would be relegated to a lower league. But we made a comeback. A healthy environment and team spirit are very important to me. In a short time, we managed to create a beautiful team and a friendly family. Everyone fought as one on the field.
The reality is that there were no highly skilled players in the team. But the players always showed determination, tried to make fewer mistakes and focused on winning. We played and achieved results against teams that were many times superior to us financially. We had draws and victories against big-budget clubs such as "Neftchi", "Sabah", "Qarabağ". These games pleased the fans and created a positive opinion about the team.
– New management has already arrived at the "Kapaz" club and the financial situation will be better than in previous years. In your opinion, how will the team perform next season?
– I only wish the club success from now on. I have great sympathy for this team and its fans. Ganja is truly one of the cradles of football in Azerbaijan. But it is difficult to predict what results they will achieve in the new season.
– What do you think about your future career?
– Frankly, everyone thought that I would stay at "Kapaz". There is currently no specific offer. I hope that there will be offers in the near future and I will evaluate them.
