"Araz-Nakhchivan" fought not only against "Aris" in Greece, but also against crazy fans.
This was stated to "Report" by Eldaniz Yusubov, Executive Director of "Araz-Nakhchivan".
He spoke about the away game against "Aris" (Greece) in the II qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, which ended in a draw, and about the opponent they will face in the next round: "We analyzed "Aris" and prepared seriously for the game. The coaching staff prepared the team at a high level for the meeting. Everything went in our favor because the players also fulfilled the tasks assigned to them. Everyone knows that Greek fans are crazy. They often tried to put pressure on our players. Thank God, we didn't lose our game in any case. Our next opponent is already known. "Omonia" is not a weak opponent either. This team has faced Azerbaijani representatives. Our head coach Elmar Bakhshiyev has some information about this club. I believe everything will be fine for us."
The club official said that the players were instructed not to go for provocations before the match: "It is true that this instruction is given to the players before every game. But the atmosphere in Greece was different. We told the players what awaited us. Because in addition to competing with the opposing players, we were also fighting with the fans. But our players are experienced, they passed the test with honor. They proved that they are capable of fulfilling the necessary tasks at any time."
He touched upon the incident that happened after the final whistle of the match: "It is normal for minor incidents to occur in such principal games. I can't tell you the specific details. But it is obvious that the opposing players could not come to terms with the defeat. There were minor taunts during the match, which originated from the opposing team. They could be understood, they had lost in Baku. There were no serious problems during the incident. Later, the situation calmed down."
Yusubov emphasized that security measures were organized at a high level in Greece: "After landing from the plane at the airport, the police started to deal with our security. The hotel we stayed in was under strict control. In short, everything was organized at a high level. They helped us at every step."
It should be noted that "Araz-Nakhchivan" drew 2:2 with "Aris" on the road yesterday and advanced to the next round. In the match held in Baku between the parties, the Azerbaijani representative won - 2:1.
