Aqil Nabiyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team consisting of under-16 football players, shared his thoughts with the AFFA Press Service after the second test match (2:1) against the corresponding age group team of Moldova.
"Report" reports that the specialist, who congratulated his players for the victory, said that it is gratifying to win, even if it is a test match:
"First of all, I congratulate my team on the victory. We played our first match with Moldova two days ago. It is difficult to play again after a one-day break. The player's recovery is very important. Depending on the organism, there are players who recover in 48 hours and some in 72 hours. Taking these into account, we made some changes in the squad. We played dominant football on the field, created a lot of goal episodes.
The only thing that worries me is that we could not capitalize on the 100% episodes we got in both matches and conceded goals from simple situations. A lot of work needs to be done on these. We are also inviting several players from this team to the U-17 national team. If we can increase the number of training camps and international games, we will achieve a lot with these players. I believe that we will achieve good results in the CIS Games to be held in our country and in the qualifying matches with our U-17 national team."
The head coach said that they played the second match better compared to the first match, which the team won 3:2:
"When we analyzed the first game, we eliminated the obvious gaps. In this match, we had more possession of the ball, created enough goal situations. As a result of the beautiful game, we won. I believe that successful results will continue in the future."
A. Nabiyev emphasized that he believes that the U-16 national team will achieve successful results in the III CIS Games to be held in Azerbaijan in September-October: "After we know our opponents, we will collect detailed information about them and analyze them. Our team also has the potential to achieve successful results in the CIS Games. We just need to trust the children. As I always say, there are enough promising football players in Azerbaijan. It is necessary to guide the children correctly and believe in them."
