Aqil Nabiyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team consisting of football players under 17, was dissatisfied with the refereeing in the test match against Montenegro.
The expert himself stated this in an interview with "Report".
Talking about the victory in the preparation match of the team in training camp in Montenegro, A. Nabiyev said that the head referee often made mistakes:
"I have been working for the national team for many years and preparing teams from lower age groups for games. I have never seen such a shameful refereeing before. Despite unfair decisions, we defeated both Montenegro and the head referee. As for the game, the Montenegro national team is made up of good players. Their respective age group championship has already started. As a team, they have finished their last 3 games with a victory. They defeated Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania. The opposing team was much superior in terms of height. However, we prepared well for the match, we analyzed the opponent correctly. The meeting started as we wanted. Although the opponent tried to put more pressure because they were the home team. The course of the match showed that we can attack well. Thank God, we won in the end."
He talked about the condition of the players in the training camp:
"We have been together for training camp for about 10 days. We had several players playing in Spain who had not trained for more than 1 month. Special training was conducted for them for about 1 week to prepare them for the team's training camp. After the summer break, there are problems with the physical fitness of the players when they go to the training camp. As you know, special devices are used to measure the physical condition of football players. We observed that there is a negative gap between the last training camp and the current one. Most of them suffer from the lack of game practice. Because the championships of football players from this age group have not started yet."
A. Nabiyev said that he believes that players from lower age groups will be involved in the main national team in the near future:
"U-16 and U-17 national teams are already participating in joint training sessions. The results we have achieved in recent games are encouraging. The feeling of self-confidence has increased in the team. The players quickly learned what the coaching staff wanted. I have been working in the U-17 national team since March. It would have been better if I had been here earlier. However, we have formed a very good team. I hope that the players in the team will become members of the U-21 and the main team in the near future."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani U-17 national team, which is in training camp in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, won the test match against the home team with a score of 1:0. The national team will hold its second test match against the same team today.
