Al Ahly's sporting director, Sayed Abdel Hafeez, has commented on the rumors that the club has started negotiations for the transfer of Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah. The functionary spoke about this to the Goal portal:
"Mohamed Salah is a big star. He has achieved achievements that no footballer in the Arab world can easily repeat. He is currently focusing all his attention on his professional career. Mentioning Salah's name alongside Al Ahly is the media's job. He is a player who has brought fame to Egyptian football and the entire Arab world. Let's be realistic. Salah extended his contract with Liverpool a few months ago. No official representative of Al Ahly has spoken about this - everything was just in the press. I wish Salah success."
It should be noted that Salah has been playing for Liverpool since 2017. His current contract with the club expires in the summer of 2027.
