"Qarabag" will host the Dutch representative "Ajax" in the VI round of the main stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Taking into account the interest in the match, the Dutch football player Shakil Sno, a graduate of "Ajax" who plays in our country and currently plays for "Karvan-Yevlakh", gave an interview to teleqraf.az.
The 29-year-old defender revealed interesting points about both his former club and the Aghdam club.
We present that interview:
- What are your expectations for the "Qarabag" - "Ajax" game?
- It will be a very interesting match. Both teams love attacking football, so there will be gaps on the field and we will watch an open game. The result can go either way.
- You are a graduate of "Ajax". What are the positive aspects of this team that distinguish it in Dutch football?
- "Ajax" has always been distinguished by its attractive football: having a lot of the ball, attacking and dominant game, even a little arrogance. I spent 11 years at the club and I can say that this influence is still felt in my game. Although the level has dropped somewhat in recent years, "Ajax" remains one of the biggest clubs in Europe and the biggest team in the Netherlands.
- You know both teams well. Which has a higher chance of winning? What is your score prediction?
- The level of the teams is very close to each other. I have played against "Qarabag" several times, they are a strong team and have proven themselves in Europe. "Ajax" also has great experience in European cups, but their form has not been good recently. If they bring one of their good days, it will be difficult for "Qarabag". I think the game will end in a draw.
- Will you watch the game from the stadium? Which team will you support?
- Dutch television invited me to the live broadcast at the stadium, but I cannot come due to my own training. I live in Mingachevir and Baku is a bit far. Of course, I will support "Ajax".
- Has anyone contacted you about this game?
- Neither "Ajax" nor "Qarabag" contacted me about the game. There is just a bit of a joke between me and the kids on the team, they support "Qarabag" and I support "Ajax".
- You worked with "Ajax" head coach Fred Grim from the very beginning while you were there. Since you have been in Azerbaijan since the summer, you also know Gurban Gurbanov to some extent. How would you characterize both experts?
- Yes, I know Fred Grim well, we have worked together in the past and our relationship is excellent. We don't talk often, but I can call him anytime if I want. I even played in the same team with his son for several years. I don't know Gurban Gurbanov personally, but I have heard very good things about him.
- "Qarabag" has 7 points and "Ajax" has 0 points. Does this factor and the fact that the match is held in Baku give an advantage to the Azerbaijani representative?
- Scoring 7 points and playing at home gives "Qarabag" an advantage and great confidence. "Ajax" is currently going through a difficult period both in Europe and in the league, but I still believe that they will fight to the end for three points. I think the Amsterdam club will do everything to return from here with a point.
