Interview with Adil Shukurov, head coach of "Kapaz", for Sport24.az
- The defeats in the first 3 rounds were certainly not part of your plans. During the break in the championship, you probably had discussions with the coaching staff about the failure. What do you see as the reason or reasons?
- An unsuccessful start to the championship has a very big impact on the players and management. Everyone will try to get out of this situation together and change the situation. During the break, we will try to find a way out with the coaching staff. I think we can rally the team during this break. Frankly, the team was assembled with a serious delay. Two new players joined the team before the last match with "Zira". When we talk about the reason, the excessive delay in the overall selection work had a very big impact on our performance. As a result, we performed very unsuccessfully in the first rounds.
- So it turns out that you were ready for this course of events?
- I wouldn't say that it was possible to predict such results for the 3 games played. This created a shock effect for us as well. We were expecting a more successful start. For this, the team had to gather quickly. This also had its effect.
- Why were the transfers delayed?
- Unfortunately, the players who were offered to me in the initial version and who I liked were not brought. I'm not saying that I don't like the current squad. But the fact is that while Premier League clubs had finished the selection process and were training, we were yearning for transfers. The players I analyzed for days and said "yes" to their arrival on the date I was told were not brought. Indirectly, we conducted the selection process twice and we are still suffering from it.
- Your meeting with the club management took place two days ago. The text posted on the "Kapaz" website is a bit mysterious. Have you been set a specific goal of scoring a certain number of points for the next 3 rounds?
- I don't want to comment on the official information. In any case, our task is to fix the situation. We will spare no effort for this.
- How realistic do you think it is to get out of the current situation? What steps do you intend to take for this?
- In the current situation, we need to work harder and be a team. As coaches, we trust and believe in our team. We have assembled the squad and we believe that we will achieve our goal with these players. We have fallen into the current situation as a team, and we must get out of it as a team.
- And finally, are new transfers expected?
- Yes, new transfers are expected. God willing, if we find a player in the near future, we will announce it. We are still watching.
