It has been revealed in which stadiums in Azerbaijan the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Uzbekistan, will take place.
İdman.Biz reports with reference to prosport.az that the games will be held in Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja, Gabala and Khankendi.
In Baku, there are discussions about the venues being the Baku Olympic Stadium (BOS) and the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium. Since BOS is large enough to fill spectators at the U-20 World Cup, the 2nd option is also being discussed.
The Mehdi Huseynzade city stadium in Sumgayit, the city stadium in Gabala, the newly opened Ganja stadium in Ganja, which is still being worked on, and the city stadium in Khankendi are intended for the World Championship.
However, the lack of reserve training grounds at the stadium in Khankendi may be the reason for not holding the game there. In any case, if reserve grounds are built, games will also be held here.
It should be noted that Elchin Yusubov, the special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara and Khojaly regions, Niyazi Bayramov, the head of the Ganja City Executive Authority, Sabuhi Abdullayev, the head of the Gabala Region Executive Authority, and Zakir Farajov, the head of the Sumgayit City Executive Authority, were also included in the Organizing Committee established by the Order of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on December 15.
Let us also inform you that FIFA confirmed the awarding of the U-20 World Cup to Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan at its meeting on October 2. It is expected that 24 teams will compete in 6 groups in the World Cup.
