There has been a change in the lineup of the "Clash of Champions" tournament, which will be jointly organized by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the National Carpet Museum.
Idman.biz reports that Indian world champion Viswanathan Anand has announced that he will not be able to travel due to health problems, according to the opinion of doctors.
In this regard, Anand, who applied to the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, stated that he would be happy to participate in the next competitions.
It should be noted that in the tournament to be held on April 28-30 at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, Azerbaijani champion Rauf Mammadov will compete against Uzbek world champion Rustam Kasimdzhanov. Also, Gunay Mammadzada, the winner of the country's women's championship, will compete against world and European champion Antoaneta Stefanova in the same tournament. The winner in the "Clash of Champions" will be determined based on the total of rapid and blitz tournaments.
