Azerbaijani grandmaster Aydın Suleymanli continues to pursue the leaders in the traditional "Tata Steel Challengers" chess tournament held in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands.
Idman.Biz reports that in the eighth round, A. Suleymanli defeated American chess player Carissa Yip. This victory was the fourth success for Aydın in the current tournament.
Thus, the Azerbaijani grandmaster, having scored six points, is in third place in the tournament table. He lags behind the leaders, Markandriya Maurizzi from France and Andy Woodward from the USA, who each have 6.5 points.
January 26, Monday, will be a rest day in the tournament held in Wijk aan Zee. On Tuesday, Suleymanli will face Argentinian Faustino Oro. A total of 13 rounds are planned within the framework of the festival.
