Azerbaijani female taekwondo fighter Minaya Akbarova wants to succeed at the World Championships.
Idman.biz reports that the athlete herself said this in an interview with "Report" after winning a gold medal at the "Polish Open" international tournament held in Poland.
She spoke about her high results: "This is the second gold medal I won on the eve of the World Championship. A week ago, we showed high results both individually and as a team at the "Swiss Open" international tournament held in St. Gallen, Switzerland. The last competition I participated in was a very important and difficult tournament. The 4 opponents I faced - representatives of Finland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Saudi Arabia and Israel - are also among the athletes who will participate in the upcoming World Championship. Although the fights were very tense for me, I managed to reach the highest level in the competition."
M. Akbarova said that they are preparing for the upcoming World Championship: "I express my gratitude to the leadership of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation for their support in our participation in all competitions and for the conditions created for our participation in training. We will continue training from tomorrow. Our main goal is the upcoming World Championship. God willing, we will perform successfully there as well."
It should be noted that Azerbaijani taekwondo fighters won a total of 3 medals at the "Polish Open" international tournament. Minaya Akbarova became the champion by defeating all her opponents. Gashim Magomedov (63 kg) and Javad Agayev (80 kg) won bronze medals.
