One of the main reasons for the defeat of the "Lankaran" club to "Nakhchivan" (82:91) in the third round of the Azerbaijan Basketball League is the failure in free throws. Sport24.az reports that this was stated by head coach Georgi Kondrusevich in a statement to the press service of the Lankaran representative.
He emphasized that the team fought in each of the 4 quarters:
"Our team fought as much as they could in 4 periods. Not being able to fulfill the head coach's instructions is another topic. My basketball players could not fully implement what I thought. But they fought well. Therefore, I thank them. We fought until the end and managed to reduce the difference in the 4th period. But this did not help to escape defeat. Overall, I have no complaints about my players. One of the main reasons for the defeat is our failure in free throws. We could not convert any free throws into points in the first period. We cannot say that this is the main reason either. At the same time, unexpected turnovers turned into fast counterattacks by the opponent. It was these that ultimately resulted in us losing by a difference of 9 points. We need to work on this."
