"The silver medal won at the Champions Cup in Bangkok is a very worthy result."
These words were said by Tatyana Deniskina, a member of the Azerbaijani women's 3x3 basketball team, while talking about winning a silver medal at the FIBA Champions Cup held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
She positively assessed the team's overall performance.
"Of course, after reaching the final, you always want to win a gold medal. The team showed character, played well, and managed to defeat strong opponents on the way to the final. This is an important experience and a step forward in terms of the fight for a ticket to the Summer Olympic Games, which will be held in Los Angeles in 2028," she said in a statement to AZERTAC.
The experienced basketball player also spoke about the Dutch team, which they lost to in the final:
"This opponent is a strong and experienced team that performs at a high level. The reasons for the defeat in the final were our mistakes, the opponent's good shooting realization, and the fatigue accumulated after the intense games of the tournament. But despite our loss, reaching the final and winning a silver medal is a great success for Azerbaijan, as well as a good start to the season."
It should be noted that the Dutch national team, which won the three-day tournament, won a license to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
