Tahir Baxshiyev: "Germany was luckier than Turkey in the European Championship final; the championship was memorable for its surprises"

The German team was luckier in the final match of the European Championship between the German and Turkish men's basketball teams.

This was stated by the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, Tahir Baxshiyev, in an interview with "Report".

He evaluated the final match between Turkey and Germany:

"The decisive meeting was very interesting. The game was almost equal between Germany and Turkey. In the end, the German team performed the shots more accurately. This is a very important factor. There is fatigue and stress in the last minutes. The Germans were luckier. They were well prepared for the game. Of course, we were rooting for Turkey and wanted them to be the champion. Despite being young, Alperen Şenğün was playing very well. I can also mention Cedi Osman. In general, I haven't watched such an interesting championship for a long time."

He called it a sensation that the Serbian and French national teams could not make it to the top eight:

"Not only the final, but the whole championship was interesting. There were also surprises. The biggest surprise for me, of course, was the Finnish team's advance to the "final four". Teams like Serbia and France, on the other hand, did not manage to take a place not only in the "final four", but even in the top eight. This can also be called a big sensation."

It should be noted that the Turkish national team lost to Germany 83:88 in the final and won the silver medals of the European Championship.
