The Sumgayit basketball team was unable to bring back foreign players who performed well last season for certain reasons.
"Report" reports that Vadim Kuramshin, the head coach of the "city of youth" representative, made a statement to the club's press service about this.
He shared his thoughts on the team's preparation:
"Honestly, we started the preparation stage a bit late. Even now, the team is not training with the full squad. Another new transfer will join the training in 2-3 days. But in any case, our training is going well now."
Kuramshin spoke about Sumgayit's goals in the new season:
"Our goal is to take the first place and rise to the A League. I hope everything will be as we want. We want to play with the same determination as we made a good impression last season. We will fight with all our strength for the name of our hometown Sumgayit. Although, for certain reasons, we could not bring back our foreign players who played very well last season."
In the end, he also called on the fans to support the team in the new season:
"We are definitely waiting for Sumgayit fans at our games. They gave us very good support last season. Our basketball players became their favorites. I hope that the new squad will not be weaker than last season's."
