This was stated to İdman.biz by Rimas Kurtinaytis, the head coach of the "Sabah" basketball club.
The experienced specialist commented on his team's debut in the regular championship of the Champions League in the new season. He stated that this will be a first for Azerbaijani basketball: "Of course, it is a great responsibility and challenge. There are clubs with experience in the regular season of the Champions League. For example, "Alba", "Valencia" can be mentioned. We lag behind in terms of experience compared to our opponents. The teams here have been performing at the top level for a long time and have established systems. But this does not mean that the games with us will be an easy walk for them. We will do our best to represent Azerbaijan properly in the elite league of European basketball."
The Lithuanian coach touched upon the transfer issue: "In the draw, probably the first 2 opponents will be among the strongest according to the ranking. We will prepare according to which teams we face. Work is also being done on transfers, and we will try to form a squad at the Champions League level."
It should be noted that "Sabah" played in the qualifying round of the FIBA Champions League last season.
