Brazilian Oscar Schmidt, the highest scorer in the history of Olympic basketball tournaments, has died at the age of 69.
Idman.Biz reports that the basketball player was hospitalized after feeling unwell. He had been battling a brain tumor for 15 years.
The former Brazilian basketball player participated in five consecutive Olympic Games (1980–1996). He is the only basketball player to exceed 1000 points in Olympic tournaments.
Oscar Schmidt was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2010. He also participated in the opening ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics.
