Azerbaijani basketball has suffered a heavy loss.
Idman.biz reports that Vagif Hajimammadov, a former member of our national team and USSR Master of Sports, who has lived in Stavropol, Russia for many years, passed away at the age of 62 after a long and severe illness.
He was invited to the USSR basketball team in 1982 during the Soviet era. Hajimammadov played for the team of the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute in the USSR championship, and later fought for the success of the "Dinamo" (Stavropol) club in the Russian championship. After ending his professional basketball career, he also worked as a coach.
