A meeting was held at the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC) with representatives of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF).
According to Idman.biz, citing the federation's press service, the meeting was attended by Nigar Vahabzade, Advisor to the Chairman of ATUC, Araz Pashayev, Chairman of the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Science and Education Workers (TUSEW), and Farrukh Mahmudov, Executive Vice President of ABF.
During the meeting, the management and activity plans of the "Ganja" basketball club were discussed in detail, and based on the final decision, the management of the club was transferred to the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Science and Education Workers.
The main reason for choosing this new management system for the "Ganja" club is the high results shown by the club in the last three seasons. In the 2022/2023 season, the club played in the final of the Azerbaijan Basketball League (ABL) and won the Azerbaijan Cup in the same season. Continuing its successful performance in the last season, "Ganja" qualified from Group B to Group A.
In addition, Ganja is the second largest city in Azerbaijan and is an important industrial, commercial and cultural center of the country. Moreover, this year the CIS Games will be held in Ganja. The great interest of the city's population in sports is also an important factor affecting the development of the club. It should be emphasized that all these points indicate the future potential of the regional club.
It should be noted that the "Ganja" basketball club will operate under the management of TUSEW, a member organization of ATUC, from the 2025/2026 season. At the same time, the club has also been admitted to the Association of Sports Organizations of Azerbaijan Trade Unions.
