Legendary basketball player Michael Jordan's jersey, worn during the 1992/1993 season when he became an NBA champion for the third time, has been sold for $2,623,000.
"Report" reports, citing ESPN, that the jersey found its owner at the "Heritage Auctions" auction house.
The basketball player wore the jersey in 17 games from November 6, 1992, to March 24, 1993. Later, his picture with this jersey was placed on the cover of "Sports Illustrated" magazine.
Interestingly, to prove that M. Jordan actually wore this jersey, experts conducted a study by comparing photos from 11 matches during the mentioned periods. In some of the photos from the other six games, the jerseys matched, and in some, the shorts.
It should be noted that the most expensive item related to the legendary basketball player is still the jersey he wore in the 1998 NBA Finals. This outfit was sold for $10 million in September 2022. This was also the most expensive sports item sold at auction at that time.
