Friendly games with the Kazakhstan club "Astana" were useful for the "Sabah" basketball team.
Idman.Biz reports that the head coach of the Baku representative, Rimas Kurtinaitis, said this in a statement to the club's press service.
The Lithuanian specialist shared his thoughts after the second match, which they won 94:83 at the Baku Sports Palace:
"Since we finished the regular season in the first place, we have a little more opportunity to rest than other clubs. While this is good on the one hand, on the other hand, basketball players can lose their game rhythm. For this reason, we decided to hold test games with the Kazakhstan club "Astana" during the break. I think these matches were useful before the playoffs."
Kurtinaitis added that they will rest a little after these games.
"After the date of our first game in the play-off stage of the Azerbaijan Basketball League is determined, we will prepare a preparation plan accordingly. Overall, I was satisfied with the quality of the game. Some of our basketball players had micro-injuries. For this reason, we did not use their services. As every year, this season we will fight to defend the title of Azerbaijan champion," the coach said.
It should be noted that in the first match between the teams, held on April 4, "Astana" won with a score of 110:102.
