The 3x3 basketball competitions within the framework of the III CIS Games kicked off in Ganja today.
Idman.biz reports that the Azerbaijani national teams (U-17), consisting of boys and girls, have advanced to the semifinals.
Our boys' team (Huseyn Qaflanov, Emanuel Agbasan, Ismayil Abdullayev, and Oguzkhan Guliyev), which was in Group A, defeated Tajikistan (21:13) and Kyrgyzstan (18:6), but lost to Russia (8:21). Our team, finishing second in the group, advanced to the semifinals. In the semifinals, the Azerbaijani team will face the Belarusian national team, which finished as the leader of Group B. In the second semifinal, Russia will face Uzbekistan.
Our girls' team (Polina Shukina, Deniz Gokchol, Angelina Ismayilova, and Leyla Allahverdiyeva), although starting the tournament with a defeat against Uzbekistan (13:16), qualified for the semifinals by winning consecutive victories. Our team defeated Kazakhstan (20:5), Russia (19:18), and Belarus (18:17).
5 teams competed in the girls' tournament. The tournament was held in a round-robin system, and the first four teams advanced to the semifinals. The Azerbaijani team advanced to the semifinals in first place. In the semifinals, our opponent will be the Uzbekistan team. In the other semifinal, Russia will face Belarus.
It should be noted that the semifinals, the matches for third place, and the finals will be held tomorrow starting at 16:00.
