South Korean national team's 25-year-old forward Heon-Jun Lee has set a record in the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers with nine three-pointers in a single game.
According to Idman.Biz, citing the official FIBA website, he stood out in the 80-76 victory over China with 33 points and 14 rebounds.
Li became the first player to reach this mark. Previously, seven players had made eight three-pointers in a single game: John Jenkins, Kassius Robertson, Ki Lee, Amir Saoud, Naoto Tsuji, EJ Ubi, and Amedeo Della Valle.
Li made six three-pointers in the first half and added three more after the break. The record was set in the first qualifying game before the return match in Wonju on December 1.
The qualifying process will determine 31 of the 32 teams that will qualify for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup. As the host country, Qatar will automatically qualify for the tournament.
