Georgi Kondrusevich, head coach of the "Lankaran" club, explained the main reasons for the defeat to "Nakhchivan" (82:91) in the III round of the Azerbaijan Basketball League.
Idman.Biz reports that he said this in a statement to the club's press service.
The coach emphasized that the team fought in each of the 4 quarters:
"Our team fought as much as they could in 4 periods. Not being able to fulfill the head coach's instructions is another topic. My basketball players couldn't fully realize what I had in mind. But they fought well. That's why I thank them. We fought to the end and were able to reduce the difference in the 4th period. But this did not help to avoid defeat. Overall, I have no complaints about my players."
According to him, one of the main reasons for his team's defeat is their failure in free throws: "We couldn't turn any free throws into points in the first period. We can't say that this is the main reason. At the same time, unexpected turnovers turned into quick counterattacks by the opponent. These are precisely what resulted in our losing by a difference of 9 points in the end. We have to work on this."
