One of the main reasons for the defeat (82:91) of the "Lankaran" club to "Nakhchivan" in the III round of the Azerbaijan Basketball League is the failure in free throws.
"Report" informs that the head coach Georgi Kondrusevich said this in a statement to the press service of the Lankaran representative.
He emphasized that the team fought in each of the 4 quarters:
"Our team fought as much as it could in 4 periods. Not being able to fulfill the coach's instructions is another topic. My basketball players could not fully implement what I thought. But they fought well. That's why I thank them. We fought until the end and were able to reduce the difference in the 4th period. But that didn't help to avoid defeat. In general, I have no complaints about my players. One of the main reasons for the defeat is our failure in free throws. We couldn't turn a single free throw into a point in the first period. We can't say that this is the main reason. At the same time, unexpected turnovers turned into quick counterattacks by the opponent. These ultimately resulted in us losing by a difference of 9 points. We have to work on this."
