The biggest shortcoming of "Shaki" in the match with "Absheron Lions" in the XVI round of the Azerbaijan Basketball League was the inability to get rebounds. Sport24.az reports that this was stated by head coach Bedri Meriç in a statement to the club's press service.
The expert stated that despite the defeat, he was satisfied with his team's performance:
"I congratulate the opponent on the victory. I think we played well today, it was a high-level and interesting match for the fans. Our biggest shortcoming was not being able to get rebounds. Our opponent scored 28 points from such chances, which is a very big number."
The experienced expert also touched upon the decisive moments of the game:
"Although we were 10 points behind in the third period, we later equalized the score, and even took the lead two minutes before the end. But in the last seconds, we missed simple shots and gave the opponent a chance. If these hadn't happened, we could have won. But I am satisfied with my players for their fight against one of the leaders of group A. We will continue to fight."
It should be noted that the game held at the Shaki Olympic Sports Complex ended with the victory of "Absheron Lions" with a score of 92:85.
