Azerbaijan may be represented by two basketball clubs in European cups next season.
This was stated to "Report" by the Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF), Vugar Azimov.
He said that the winner of the Azerbaijan Basketball League (ABL) will compete in the Champions League:
"The club that takes second place will participate in the FIBA Europe Cup if it wishes. Everything depends on finances. The club will make its own decision regarding participation in the tournament. Two teams can go to the European Cup. The choice and participation fee here depend on the decision of the clubs."
The ABF official also shared his thoughts on Neftchi and Sabah qualifying for the ABL final:
"It was expected that both teams would advance to the decisive round. In modern basketball, the budget solves a lot. It is no coincidence that the clubs with the largest budgets reach the final. Both have professional and high-level basketball players. For me, the surprise result was the advance of the "Shaki" and "Absheron" teams to the semi-finals. This was a very pleasant surprise."
