The Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF) will punish the referees of the "Sabah" - "Absheron Lions" game.
Idman.Biz reports that the press service of the organization has released information about this.
ABF clarified the events that took place in the match of the X round of the Azerbaijan Basketball League:
"Azerbaijan Basketball League games are managed by a system of three referees. However, in force majeure situations, as in the mentioned match, according to FIBA rules (FIBA rule 45), there is no obstacle to starting the game with two referees, the third referee joining the game later, or the meeting being completed with two referees. For this reason, due to the force majeure situation that arose in the relevant game, the start of the game with two referees was offered to both clubs, and then, based on the mutual agreement of the clubs, the match started with two referees, and the meeting continued with a system of three referees with the third referee joining the game during the first period."
It was reported that the other issue recorded regarding the game was related to the management of the referees.
"As a result of a detailed analysis, it was determined that there were both serious and minor referee errors during the match, both in favor and against both teams. However, it was concluded that these errors did not directly affect the final result of the meeting. Nevertheless, it was decided to take disciplinary measures and apply game penalties against the referees who managed the game in question."
It should be noted that the last national champion "Sabah" lost to "Absheron Lions" with a score of 97:101 in the mentioned match.
