Anar Sariyev, head coach of "Serhedchi", commented on his team's game against "Sumgayit" in the fifth round of the Azerbaijan Basketball League.
Idman.Biz reports that the game ended with a score of 84-80 in favor of "Sumgayit".
"We played very badly. We looked weak. I never like to talk about refereeing, but I'm tired. I'm not saying that the defeat was because of the referees, but their work was terrible. There's bad, and then there's terrible," Sariyev said.
Sariyev noted that the quality of the referees was not sufficient: "We are playing in Division B, but that doesn't mean that children or inexperienced referees should be assigned to our games. We have at least two Azerbaijanis in our team, and this kind of refereeing is detrimental to our basketball. The refereeing in the last round against "Nakhchivan" was terrible, but today the situation was five times worse."
The coach emphasized the importance of involving experienced referees: "We need at least two FIBA-level referees. Today we had one referee, but even he couldn't keep up with all the episodes."
