The Azerbaijani national men's basketball team can win the game against Ireland in the preliminary qualifying round of EURO-2029.
This was announced to "Report" by national team member Amil Hamzayev.
The 35-year-old player said that the trip to the country in question will be long and tiring:
"I think we have a chance to make a comeback from here in our favor. This is the most important match for us. Then we can show a completely different game in the home match with North Macedonia. We can change the balance in the group. We are mentally very well prepared for the meeting in Ireland. I think we will return with a victory."
A. Hamzayev recalled that they lost the first two games to North Macedonia (49:87) and Luxembourg (90:95):
"North Macedonia is the favorite of the group. We started the qualifying round with a strong opponent. It was a slightly unfavorable calendar. Then we faced Luxembourg. We recovered late in that match. We were able to get rid of the pressure in the first match. But we recovered late. I think that if we play Luxembourg at home again under normal conditions, we can easily beat them."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team will hold its next matches within the qualifying round against Ireland on February 27 and against the North Macedonian team on March 2.
