"Sumgayit" performed well in the Azerbaijan Basketball League last season.
According to "Report", this was stated by Aleksey Kitayev, the playing coach of the "Sumgayit" basketball club.
The specialist assessed the team's performance last season:
"I think we could have played better, but overall we performed very well. Although we didn't have many legionnaires, we made a good impression and showed ourselves. We were not a weak opponent for the teams that played with us, and we fought them to the end. This showed our strength."
In a statement to the club's press service, he spoke about his new position:
"I am very grateful to be entrusted with being the second player-coach. I will do my best to help my team both on and off the field. This is a big responsibility for me."
The basketball player also shared his thoughts on the new season:
"It is difficult to say anything specific yet. The season will start in the coming days and we will try to show our game. We will do our best to make our team successful."
