"The Absheron Lions basketball club is not currently in its highest form." Sport24.az reports that the team's head coach, Erhan Toker, made a statement to the club's press service about this.
The Turkish expert shared his thoughts on the first leg of the first qualifying round of the European Cup, which they will play today against the Cypriot representative "Anorthosis":
"We will play a very important match. It is a bit difficult to play a qualifying match on the European stage before the league starts. Of course, we are not in our highest form in the full sense. We will try to be in the most optimal form until match time as much as we can."
Toker said that they will only see their mistakes and weaknesses in this match:
"We want to go on the road with a favorable result. As for the opponent's squad, they have 3-4 local players as well as legionnaires. They were also in the squad last year. I hope everything will continue in the direction we want."
It should be noted that the "Absheron Lions" - "Anorthosis" match, which will be held today at the Baku Sports Palace, will start at 19:00. The second match between the teams will take place on October 1 in Limassol.
