23-year-old basketball player Deng Mayar tragically died in a reservoir in Utah, USA. Sport24.az reports that, according to the "Daily Mail", the athlete, who played in the NCAA student league, was in the "Blackridge" reservoir in Herriman, south of Salt Lake City, with a friend when the accident happened.
Suddenly, both young men found themselves in trouble in the water. The basketball player's friend managed to get to the shore, but Deng Mayar couldn't.
After the incident, his friend returned to the water to help him, but unfortunately, it was too late. Mayar sank to the bottom of the water and never resurfaced.
His body was found as a result of a search and rescue operation. His friend was hospitalized and is said to be in stable condition.
It should be noted that Mayar played for the University of North Dakota team last season. He was going to defend the honor of the University of Nebraska Omaha in the next championship.
