Turkish Greco-Roman wrestler Rıza Kayaalp shared his impressions after winning his 13th European championship in Tirana, the capital of Albania. The athlete, who broke Aleksandr Karelin's record in the 130 kg weight category, stated that this achievement was the result of a very difficult process.
Idman.Biz's employee, who was sent to Albania, reports that the record-breaking wrestler attributed the secret of his stability since 2010 to his respect for his work.
He recalled that he reached the final in all European championships he participated in for 15 years:
"I have achieved a championship that is very difficult to break. It is a championship equal to the Olympic championship for me. It was very difficult to achieve this victory in Europe. I used to think if I could win 1-2 medals in Europe. I have wrestled in the final every year until a child is born and reaches the age of 15. This requires great stability and effort. If I am doing this job, I thought I should do my best. I have always done my job with love and tried to be an example to young people".
Touching upon the course of the competition, Kayaalp noted that the road to the final was not easy, and he faced disrespect from his opponent in the semi-final. However, the wrestler, who said that the final match was more comfortable, emphasized that he managed to maintain a 7:0 advantage as an athlete who does not like to give points.
Rıza Kayaalp stated that he dedicated this historic victory to his family and the entire Turkish nation:
"I dedicate this success to my wife, daughters, parents, and everyone who loves us, who have always been by my side in these joyful and sad days. This is truly a great achievement."
