"The U17 World Championship to be held in Baku is coming up. I will prepare even better and do my best to become a champion in my homeland."
Idman.Biz reports that these words were said by Nihad Suleymanli, the winner of the U-17 European Championship held in Samokov, Bulgaria.
"My first match was against a Georgian opponent, and the meeting was quite difficult. I even suffered minor injuries. Nevertheless, I did not lose heart. My goal was to become a champion, and I continued to move forward with this goal. Then I defeated German and Hungarian wrestlers and advanced to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, I faced a Russian athlete, and thank God, I won that match as well.
In the final, I defeated Emirhan Çayırı from the brother country and became the champion. Before going to the decisive match, I thought I would not be nervous. But it didn't turn out as I imagined. I couldn't avoid the excitement of this match, which determined the fate of the championship. Nevertheless, I fought to the end and waved our flag in the Samokov arena with a score of 10:0. I dedicate my victory to our country.
I would like to express my deep gratitude to my personal coaches Alisa Abbasov and Huseyn Nasirov, who have put great effort and effort into me, as well as to the coaches of the national team. The U17 World Championship to be held in Baku is coming up. I will prepare even better and do my best to become a champion in my homeland. I think that the main rivals will be representatives of Iran and the USA. We will prepare very well as a team," Suleymanli said.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani U-17 freestyle wrestling team finished the European Championship in second place. Under the leadership of senior coach Asgarhan Novruzov, coaches Vahid Mammadov, Yashar Aliyev and Allahverdi Veliyev, Huseyn Rzazade (48 kg), Ibrahim Hasanov (51 kg) and Nihad Suleymanli (80 kg) became European champions.
